OUR STORY: A FAMILY, A DREAM, AND ONE BIG HOPE
We got married young, full of dreams, especially one: to build a big, warm, loving family. Today, we're both 30 years old — and blessed with six beautiful children, the oldest just turned 9. Our days are full of joy, laughter, and love. But behind the happiness is a daily struggle that weighs on us more than most people realize.
We live in a small apartment on the 6th floor of an old building — with no elevator. Every day, multiple times a day, we carry our children, strollers, groceries, school bags, and everything else up and down those stairs. Mornings start early with bus runs. Nights end with sleeping toddlers in our arms. It's physically and emotionally draining. And it's been years of this.
Our neighborhood — our community — is our life. This is where we grew up. Our family is here. Our kids' schools are here. Our friends, our faith, our support system — it's all rooted in this one place. And that's why moving somewhere cheaper just isn't an option. But here, rent is sky-high, and buying a private house is nearly impossible.
Even with a good income, even though we're grateful to be considered among the stable earners in our community, this one dream — owning a home of our own — feels completely out of reach. Homes in this area easily cost $3 million or more. We don't live extravagantly. We give charity when we can. But this is one thing we simply can't do on our own.
Every night, after the kids fall asleep, my wife and I sit quietly and talk. We talk about the future. About the dream. About how much easier life would be with just a little more space. A place to breathe. A place with a front door that belongs to us. And then one night, my wife quietly said:
"What if we could get 3 million people to give just $1?"
That one question lit something inside me. For one person, a dollar means almost nothing. But for us — if enough people give and pass it on — it could mean everything.
